A custom-designed automatic vertical warehouse for brass bar storage is now operational at the Erbusco production facility. Built by Ciampalini Magazzini Automatici, the system consists of two towers with 19 drawers offering 7 metres of usable length each, for a total capacity of 76 tonnes. Each drawer is delivered to the operator at ergonomic height: no forklifts, no manual searching, no wasted trips between racks.
The benefit goes beyond logistics. The warehouse communicates with the company's MES system: when an order enters production, the software automatically generates the required materials list and commands the towers to prepare the correct drawer. The operator receives the pick instruction, retrieves exactly what is needed and returns to the lathe. Handling times are drastically reduced, picking errors are eliminated and every bar is traced from warehouse to machine.
